Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton Fight Results Predictions

After all the buzz about the Pacquiao-Dela Hoya Dream Match, and how the actual results beat all predictions of the outcome, it’s now time to look at the next big thing in the boxing ring: Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao vs Ricky “Hitman” Hatton. The date is already set at May 2, 2009 (May 3 RP time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

I know, I know. You have your predictions too. After we Pinoys stuck it out with our hero despite the odds and the snubs of the boxing experts, its time to gather once more behind the Pacman.

Pacquiao Wins

If Manny dismantled the Golden Boy easily, how can Hatton, a smaller fighter, match up to him? Manny isn’t the pound-for-pound king for nothing. Manny has the speed, reach and power to knock out this brawler from England. Pacquiao’s handlers said Hatton will be an easy target because he is unidimensional, wide open and doesn’t have a good footwork. If he comes straight to Manny, a big-left to the head would put him to sleep.

Speed will be the key for Manny’s victory. I was at the front seat facing the big screen when Manny danced his way to beat De La Hoya. Awesome indeed! And those punches are so powerful that girls cried after seeing the latter’s badly deformed face.

Pacquiao in 5 rounds.

Hatton Wins

Ok, let’s play some bad boy here. There’s a much talked-about transformation of the Hitman because Floyd Mayweather Sr. trained him. He won in his last fight under Floyd Sr. who vowed to morph Ricky into a Floyd Jr, the former pound-for-pound king. If one lucky punch could hit Manny, would it be the end for our hero? The Hitman is a brawler and won’t brake when he starts cranking. A lucky punch is all it takes. Floyd Sr. believes so much in his ward.

If the fight would be held at Wembley, as initially suggested, there’s a big possibility of a Hatton win. A rowdy crowd, flying beer bottles, etc… (I am thinking of football hooliganism), would bother Manny.

Hatton in a split decision.

My Predictions

The fight won’t be a walk on the park for Manny Pacquiao. My 5-round win guess may be an underestimation of the foe. My prediction of a Pacman victory is as good as yours, even if you’re a Hatton fan. Manny fought three very good fights in 2008. 2009 won’t be any different. Even if Hatton is unbeaten at 140lbs, he isn’t really the best. He’s just another boxer who can give the sweet science more bucks and another lease of life. Pacquiao vs Hatton will be the fight of 2009, unless Floyd Jr returns from retirement and exchange blows with Manny at a latter part of this year.

What’s your fight results prediction for Pacquiao vs Hatton?

UPDATE of Pacquiao vs Hatton: The actual fight results ended with a KO and with Hatton lying in the canvass for too long. It was too brief a fight for such magnitude. Pacquiao KOed Hatton and the fight ended in 2:59 at round two. Can Mayweather Jr beat that?

Nice post, ehehe, naunahan mo ko dito ah. My prediction is that Manny will KO Hatton in 3rd round. If Manny can’t do that, hatton will KO him in 6th round. LOL.

Hatton wants the fight in UK.

  6. KingofSting says:

Don’t underestimate Hatton. I think he’ll win no problem, hands down now that he has Mayweather Sr. training him. If you don’t see Hatton winning this fight then you don’t know boxing.

  7. Beaker says:

The fan-boys have gotten carried away with Pacquaio’s performance against Oscar. Well I have news for you; De La Hoya was washed-up. Freddie Roach knew that and even said so after Oscar’s fight with Stevie Forbes …. thats why Roach was very confident of a Pacquaio win. Nows lets look at Pacquaio’s performance against David Diaz; Yes it was a spotless performance but you have to remember that David Diaz was by far the weakest champion at lightweight. Many fight fans and critics have forgotten how a faded Morales outpoint Pacquaio, they also forget that Marquez outboxed Pacquaio twice and got robbed both times. Pacquaio is not the superman you all think he is and hes certainly no Floyd Mayweather. Hatton to win.

  8. pissedByJerks says:

well beaker, if ur just so sure of ur fighter, u just have to bet on ur idol w/ all u have. otherwise, ur just 1 of d whiners u can’t accept pacquiao’s accomplishments which ur idol haven’t accomplished.
i could be wrong though? i mean anything can happen in boxing. that’s why it’s 85% confident, pacquiao will win. and in d sense, i’m not underestimating hatton as well just like british cry babies do on manny.
pacquiao a push over compared to hatton ey? let’s just see on fight night. on my part, when pacquiao loose it on a fair fight, i won’t give any excuses that’s he’s all washed up. hope hatton fanatics wouldn’t give any excuses as well when they loose.

hatton wins idk why you ppl bring up the del la hoya fight if you seen what i saw you would know that pacman has no power in this division del la hoya went in there way to faint and skinny im mean for a guy that old to come in weighing less than pacman! thats pretty bad he looked like a starved child from africa. and dismantled my ass del la hoya gave up cause there was no reason that fight should have kept goin he just knew he couldnt catch him but if you seen when del la hoy landed a punch pacman would fly accross the ring pacman fast? yes but weak. you could get hit 30 time by a 10 year old i guarantee you will bruise hitman will destroy pacman in this fight because he will chase pacman and take any thing he has to dish out plus that fabulouse right hitmans got is pacmans weakness.. hitman wins by k.o

  14. RobMudriczki says:

There are a few school of thoughts but this fights is intruiging and I truly don’t know who holds the advantage. Hatton is durable and fit and Pacquiao is carrying a lot of muscle, plus he may find it hard to knock Hatton out with his punch power. It’s either Hattons natural strength or Pacquiao’s speed, ability and fitness. I think Hatton may win although He has to fight his best ever fight yet, with good defence and control. It should be a cracker!

  15. hector grefalda says:

i think manny has all the skills of a boxer, but if he caught by a dirty strategies of hatton he might be out of his focus and loss the fight…Only hatton can win the fight (in a clean way) is a lucky punch to the body, but if that not happens 100% manny will win the fight by a knockout or decision….

  16. drew_28 says:

We shouldn’t under estimate the power of Hatton! if u’r truly a boxing fanatic, u should know the real power of a boxer.Hatton is a IN fighter, he has a big chance to make manny face on floor , if he luckily landed that hook or uppercut on manny’s mid body! Though i am a Filipino, all i can say is” Manny should try to evade the dashing punches of hatton, coz if not he would end up as a big mess on the ring!!!!

  17. ceblogger says:

Coach Freddie Roach says that Manny will knock out Hatton in 3 rounds. Floyd says his ward will KO Manny. Oh, well! Let us see who will eat his words come fight day.

  18. Jonathon says:

Hatton is a tough fighter and will not go down easily. Pacquiao will have 2 really avoid hattons punches and stick with a good jab and counter till hatton gets tired or worse if manny cant do that than im gonna have to give a 6th round K.O to Hatton

  19. fightingheart says:

Heart says manny, mind says hatton. A body punch by Hatton is inevitable, and I don’t see it as lucky. With so many punches being thrown, chances are, you’ll get hit. Hatton slow? You’ll still get hit. Manny gets the early rounds, Hatton survives and takes control of the latter rounds.

  20. steve kam says:

for me, i would love to see hatton knocked out but i’m really not sure who will win the fight. IMHO, manny’s power is not enough to bring the hitman down but due to pacman’s speed and strength, our hero will win the fight by decision ONLY. though, hattOn may win by KO ONLY.

  21. pacfan says:

Ok, I’m a Manny Pacquiao fan. But I’m not gonna talk trash about Hatton. I believe that Hatton could win by using his power and strategy. On the other hand, Pacquiao will definitely kill with his lightning speed. No doubt, that nobody in the Welterweight division could match up to Pac’s quickness. I’m not saying that this will be an easy fight for Manny. Nor am I saying that this will be a difficult fight for Hatton. I think that this fight will go the distance and last for at least 11 rounds. But then again I am a proud Filipino and Pacfan, and I choose no other but Pacquiao. Pacman = Win by TKO RD 11

  22. rjalameda says:

I bet Pacquaio will win though he can’t K.O. Hatton.

  23. samruiz says:

boxing is boxing and can’t be won by predictors but by a fighter who trains best

    HATTON WILL THE CANVASS
    MANNY WILL BE THE NEXT

    THANKS

  25. Matt Porter says:

Jason, pac is the pound for pound kid you dumbass. And he is getting knocked out ;)

  26. Ozzy says:

Hatton rolls over Pacman in 10 rounds!!!

De La Hoya result gives him false hope but Super Hatton will bash this boy about, making his true strength and size advantage tell.

All the Yanks jumping on the Pacquiao bandwagon will be eating there words come Sunday morning.

    Come on Ricky!!!!!

  28. alugbati says:

hahahaha…Hatton wants the fight in his \”balwarte\” because he knows he doesn\’t have that much supporters if it will happen somewhere…His own hometown would be where he would pull his energy from…Pacman has no worries if it will happen on what place… – KAHIT SAANG SULOK NG MUNDO MERONG \”MGA\” PILIPINO – KAYA HINDI NATATAKOT SI PACQUIAO – kahit saan- ayos lang bai….diba koya manne….

Pacquiao on 3rd round…. (pag hindi nagawa ni Pacquiao sa 3rd o kaya 4th lalamunin siya ni Hatton sa 8th o 9th round)

  29. Pakyaw says:

6 to 8 rounds, Hatton will start hugging Pacman. 9 to 10 rounds, Hatton is done.

  30. Wozza says:

Pac’s speed V Hattons natural strength at the weight. Thats what this boils down to for me.

Pacquiao is fighting at his 4th different weight in 4 fights and despite the fact that he battered De La Hoya cant be denied, but I am not reading a whole lot into it. De La Hoya was shot, Hatton is far from shot.

I see Hatton dominating with his strength and roughing him up from the first bell. Pacquiao, for all his talent, wont in my opinion be able to keep Hatton away. And that is the key, if he is able to keep him at distance then it could be a long night for Ricky, but I dont see it and this thread is all about sticking your neck out and making a prediction, giving your opinion and debating the issue.

    Hatton in 6 TKO

  31. paddy says:

Hatton will run him ragged win in the 7th round paquiao has the speed but so does hatton and hatton will be too strong for him

  32. lederf says:

i have seen a lot of fights of ricky hatton, as well as with manny, i can say manny will definitely win this fight. it will be an 8th round KO

  33. g35 says:

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Manny FTMFW!!!!!!! 2nd Round K.O.!!!!!!!!!! Bring on Mayweather!!! Evidently, Hatton ain’t in Pacman’s league!!! Why did Hatton even consider this fight? Even Manny said this fight was too easy! WOW!!!! Oh, and thanks las vegas for putting 20/1 odds for K.o. in 2nd round! 20k in the pocket!!

  34. Julio says:

Manny does magic, within ten seconds of the second round, Hatton is clawed to the ground.

  35. crusader says:

Congratulations to manny.. Sometimes, we dont need to be too analytical in predicting. We simply need faith.

  36. ceblogger says:

now what can mayweather sr say about Roach and Pacquiao? Hatton is nowhere near the Pacman’s league. Bring in Floyd!

  37. ericson says:

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao!!! Yes true Hatton is out of league for Manny, Manny is too much for Hatton and Gayweather Sr., Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao, im definetely eyeing for that match, well soon. This would be a much better match up. Well shame on Gayweather Sr. too much talking he must be really pissed and wet his pants off seeing Hatton kiss the canvass. Manny is the best, his speed, agility and strength are incomparable. One awesome fighter, lives to his title as the best pound/pound boxer, and maybe the best in history, he is the definition of modern boxing. Godbless America and the Philippines. Maybe gayweather Sr. could go back to the jungles of Africa and do some rapping there he’s got a talent though in rapping=) Mabuhay ang Pinoy!

  42. Manny Pacquiao is the # 1 Pound for Pound Boxer in The world. He Is really deserving to get that title than Mayweather. I think Mayweather is scarred to Pacquiao He choose a weak opponent. Pacquiao is really a Pacman and Anthonio Margarito is Next.
