Real Madrid vs Liverpool is another exiting clash of two football heavyweights. Real Madrid, the 2008 La Liga winner and holder of the most number of Champions’ League trophies, will host the 2005 Champions Liverpool at the Bernabeu on February 25, 2009.
With frequent managerial changes in the past years, Real Madrid hasn’t been as lethal as it should be. They are currently chasing FC Barcelona at the Spanish League by seven points. But the trophy is still within reach. Having disposed off Robinho to Manchester City, they are not without other excellent strikers in Raul, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Arjen Robben. Their recent 6-1 trashing of Real Betis at home, will give them an emotional edge over the visitors this Wednesday.

Chelsea vs Juventus is another of the Italy – England match-ups of the first leg of the 2009 UEFA Champions league. My match results prediction of their encounter is somewhat tainted with bias as I am a Chelsea fan. Luiz Felipe Scolari, the world cup-winning Brazilian football coach, had been sacked by Chelsea 2 days ago after a dismal team performance at the Premier League. Therefore, he could collect £15M compensation. How’s that for being fired!

Manchester United vs Inter Milan is expected to be a clash of the titans. They are both league-leaders in their own countries and of equally team strength. Both have very colorful managers – tough, accomplished, competitive and proud. It’s difficult to have an accurate prediction of the results.
Update!!! Vidic and Ronaldo scored and blanked Inter. 2-0 for the Red Devils
I like Jose Mourinho and I have great respect for Sir Alex Ferguson. If not for the Inter coach, I would have been biased in favor of the defending champion, which I think has the edge in terms of field players. Think of Ronaldo and Rooney. Add to that, Rio Ferdinand and a cast of other role players.
