Michael Phelps and Marijuana

It was a scandal that shook the sporting world. Michael Phelps, the 14-time swimming Olympic gold medalist from the USA, was seen in a picture smoking from a marijuana pipe.
Did he or did he not? He admit the authenticity of the photo, apologized and said things that we can all agree – young men makes mistakes. He did not admit smoking pot, though. The shame could be worst. Any tests to prove he is not lying?
Or should we blame the party, and that guy who took the pic? With the availability of digicams, phone cams, pen cams, etc…, one’s picture could be taken anytime and captions may put the innocent individual in a compromising situation. Maybe he was just posing for fun. Or say, at the prodding of friends who don’t know what social responsibility is.
Whatever the reason behind the picture, the swimmer star has a responsibility to his legions of followers. As a result, he was meted with a 3-month suspension by USA Swimming, and Kellogg Co. said it would not renew its endorsement deal with the swimmer.
But a lot of people rushed to Phelps aid. Some companies sponsoring him even gave statements of support to the young athlete. The sheriff who lead the investigation spared Phelps from any charges. Oh well! Youth and blunder, forgivable together!
