Chelsea vs Manchester United in the FA Cup Final. That is my prediction. Chelsea will beat Arsenal (as it can easily beat Hull) come April 18 or 19 to face Manchester United in the FA Cup final. That also meant that I already counted out Everton in the running. Forgive my obsession. I think these top two Premier league clubs deserve all the titles they can obtain between them.

The draw for the FA Cup semi-finals has been kind to the two. They last met at the final stage in 2007 with Didier Drogba sealing it for Chelsea at extra time. But after that, it had been a downward trend for the Blues, capped by a 0-3 loss to the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

But we all know that a manager can bring a big difference to a team laden with talent. The arrival of Guus Hiddink brought a new lease of life. The dangerous Drogba had been reawakened from his deep slumber. He is scoring goals like mad, wanting to catch up with the time he lost under Scolari.

Honestly, I am wary of Arsenal too. They can upset Chelsea anytime. The Gunners beat Chelsea in their last FA Cup encounter sometime in 2004. But it did not end there. The Blues had not actually beaten the Gunners in the FA Cup since 1947. That is history worth breaking this year by Guus Hiddink and his side. A failure would render this post useless.

On the other hand, Manchester United is chasing for more glory, and trophies one after another. They now have the Carling Cup and the World Club trophy. They’re in an enviable position on top of the Premier League. If Manchester United wins vs Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions’ League tomorrow, that would be another boost for the team.

Though Everton is a tough side, they have no chance of thwarting the Red Devils at this stage. Let us just allow Louis Saha, former ManU striker, when he believes that they can beat the Blues. Ronaldo, Rooney, and guys like Berbatov are all fired up. Either Chelsea or Arsenal will have difficulty in standing up against them.

My long shot prediction is a 2-1 victory of ManU over Chelsea at the FA Cup Final. But let’s watch first the games at Wembley this April 18 and 19. The ball is still round.

UPDATE: Chelsea won against Arsenal. Manchester United lost to Everton on penalties. We can’t blame Ferguson for his choice of players. We can’t also blame Berbatov for the missed penalty. The Everton side did well. Saha is right. So, it is Chelsea vs Everton in the 2009 FA Cup Finals.
