FC Barcelona vs Chelsea FC: UEFA Champions League Semifinals Preview and Match Results Prediction
Posted by cebloggerApr 15
FC Barcelona vs Chelsea FC in the UEFA Champions League Semifinals! This is going to be another exciting match-up between two European Football Club giants. England vs Spain, again! The first leg will be played at the Nuo Camp on April 28 while the second leg will be at Stamford Bridge on May 6.
I can still recall in 2005 when Chelsea, guided by Mourinho at that time, was bracketed with Barcelona in the elimination stage. Then the Blues’ Manager, oozing with confidence and fresh from winning the Trophy at FC Porto, declared before the 2nd round draw, “Give me Barcelona!” Oh well, his wish was granted. He didn’t fail in beating Barcelona that year. But in 2006, Barcelona exacted revenge and beat Chelsea. They went on to become champions under Frank Rijkaard
Now it’s 2009! They are both under new coaches. The Spanish giant is currently 6 points clear on the top of the La Liga. They recently came out victorious in their quarterfinals duels against Germany’s fancied Bayern Munich, winning 5-1 in aggregate. A week ago, they humbled the Germans in a 4-0 trashing at the Camp Nou. What can you do against Messi, Eto’o and Henry, three of the world’s best football players?
Chelsea, on the other hand, is reeling at 3rd place at the Premiership, but is still within a mathematical shot at the trophy. With a win over Liverpool, 7-5 in aggregate at the other quarterfinals, they are well positioned to conquer Europe this year. John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba are at their peakest peak right now. They should deliver, or else, will find themselves in another team next year.
1st Leg Match Results Prediction
I always believed in Chelsea despite recognizing the fact that Barcelona is a very strong team. The first leg at Camp Nou will not be easy for any visitors. But someone from the Blues will find the net. 2-1 for Barcelona.
ACTUAL RESULT - Chelsea held Barcelona 0-0 in a very excellent defensive effort from the Blues. This is the first time Barca was scoreless at home this season. It beats all our predictions, even that of Hiddink who predicted plenty of goals for both side.
2nd Leg Match Results Prediction
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is as solid as a steel wall. But they are not really invincible. Liverpool scored 4 goals a few hours ago, which shows that there must be a crack on the Blues’ defense. It will not be raining goals every night though. So on May 6, Chelsea will blast Barcelona 3-1.
Now do the math, will you?
Actual result: Michael Essien gave Chelsea an early lead but a late goal from Iniesta leveled the game a 1-1. It will be Barcelona vs Manchester United at the UEFA Champions League Finals in Rome, as Barca progressed on away goals.
Here’s my writeup of the other semifinals: Manchester United vs Arsenal

Hmmm, another interesting match up!
yep, snow. obviously, I’m a chelsea fan.
Come on, we know barca have a very busy schedule between now and the end of May with all Sevilla, Valencia, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Villareal one after the other but we also know the spirit and the desire of the players and I can really see them holding all trophies at the end of the season. Chelsea on the other hand – concede 4 against Pool (without Stevie G)and 3 against Bolton and now I’m relatively sure that they’re gonna get smashed at Camp Nou – so time for you to do the math.
Prediction:
Barca – Chelsea 3 – 0
Chelsea – Barca 2 – 3
[...] is your own prediction? On the Chelsea vs Barcelona match, I think the Blues will progress to the finals the second time [...]
watch out Chelsea for this big Team. Barcelona FC is a team with no doubt. Try to be serious and solid when facing Barcelona at Camp Nou, or else it will be your biggest loss ever. Come on MESSI, Eto’o, Henry and all the players for the Might Barcelona FC.
Barcelona 3 – Chealsea 1

Damm it people what is wrong with all of you barca is the best team in Europe right now, there is no one near their level. not even the almighty Man U. who lost to Everton….(nice going #9, not worth spelling his name) and well i respect Chelsea but this is Barca’s year. sorry blues
predictions
Barca – Chelsea at camp nou- 4-1
Barca – Chelsea at Stamford bridge-3-3
At camp Nou as you know barcelona are almost unstoppable. They should be able to score maximmum 3or 4 goals as chelsea’s defence is sloppy and shaky . But i am also pretty sure chelsea are gonna score at camp nou mabye 1 or 2 goals so my prediction fro the first leg would be:
barcelona3-2chelsea/barcelona4-2chelsea
The best team in the world..Barca thanks to the dynamic duo of xavi and iniesta
Chelsea will become champions this year.
barca 4 chelsea 2
chelsea 3 barca 2
no one predicted a draw at Camp Nou. This just shows how strong the Blues are at defense, and how fans overrate Barca. Henry, Eto’ and Messi were speechless and scoreless. Let’s see how it goes next week.
