Marquez vs Mayweather Jr.: Who’s the Meanest?

Juan Manuel Marquez vs Floyd Mayweather Jr., at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 15, 2009 (moved from July 18) is the next big thing in boxing this year. Boxing fans around the world, those who are tired of the Pacman, will be glad to see these two fight each other. Watch it live! The winner, of course, is expected to fight Manny Pacquiao, the current pound-for-pound king, early next year or late this year.
More than a year outside the ring, and probably seeing his cash dwindling fast into the sink, Floyd Mayweather Jr. must have felt the boxing world had forgotten him. Remember, he even fought a wrestling match against a giant. Pacquiao is the new icon, and boxing’s latest sensation. That doesn’t sound good to the undefeated former pound for pound king. He needs to reestablish himself and beef up his bucks and stocks as well. He can’t just fight any fighter in his class. No, not Mosley or Cotto. These guys are in their peak while he was on vacation. He’d be pulverized. The 35-year old Marquez, the no. 2 in the PfP list and a six-time world champion, is the perfect and willing opponent for a remarkable comeback.
Juan Manuel Marquez, the Mexican boxing great and future hall of famer, is out to regain his lofty status and put more weight on his claim that he won over Pacquiao in their November 2007 fight. You see, he wanted so much to have a rematch against Manny just to prove his point. But the Filipino star, sporting his wicked grin, ignored the Mexican’s barks. Yeah, he may be right but it’s the judges’ count that matters most. So the next best thing to prove Marquez’ point is to fight another star and chase the Pacman at the top flight. I do believe that his willingness to fight Mayweather is due to his desire to lure the Filipino champ into fighting him again.
Cocky boxers these two are. And when they utter words, it’s like we’re made to believer they are God’s gift to boxing. But the accomplishments of these two really speak of their greatness. If I said in the past that I’d root for any boxer fighting Oscar de la Hoya, I’d also say the same for Floyd and for JMM. Now that these two mean fighters are squaring off against each other, who should I root for? I’d say my prediction is Mayweather winning in a 6 round TKO. I’d like to see a Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr. fight in December. If the bout comes to the judges cards, Marquez will run away with the honors. Honestly, I don’t like a part 3 of the Pacquiao vs Marquez match. That was already settled in 2007.

No brainer on this one. Mayweather takes care of Marquez.
JMM packs his own surprises too! let’s see who’ll remain standing.
I say a toss up on this one. Both fighters are great technically, both are counter punchers which means it could be a very boring fight. Hohum… but floyd’s size might just make a difference, but then again, size is not a diciding factor in boxing, ask hatton. so its 50/50 for me here.
Anyway, I will be adding you on my roll, can I ask for an xlink? thanks.
This gonna be a decision fight who will fight next for manny pacquiao. I’m pretty much excited about it.

Marquez will win this fight because Mayweather is already rusty. Marquez is a brilliant fighter.
Marquez will win via unanimous decision.
