Today, May 11, 2009 is Manny Pacquiao Day! President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has proclaimed May 11 as a special National Day of Celebration in honor of Pacquiao, the Pambansang Kamao (National Fist).
Some people were actually waiting for a non-working Holiday proclamation. But why didn’t the powers in the Palace declared that? That would have been a plus to the holiday-loving masses.

Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA 2009 Eastern Conference Finals! The conference semifinals is not yet over as of this writing. But my NBA playoffs prediction is a Cleveland vs Boston in the East. I have not really watched NBA games for the longest time, but I can’t escape reading news about games updates. Where is the NBA fan in me? If you want to watch live the Boston vs Cleveland games, check your local TV stations or the nearest NBA ticket outlets.

It’s Manchester United vs Barcelona (Barca) in the 2009 UEFA Champions League Finals in Rome on May 27, 2009! Barca came off with a thrilling late goal to level the score at Stamford Bridge a few hours ago. With the away goal after a scoreless draw at Camp Nou a week ago, Barca progressed to the finals.
The other night, Manchester United, the 2008 Champions League champions, thrashed Arsenal 3-1 to progress again to the Finals. If they win again in Rome, they will be the first team to win the title back-to-back in the UEFA Champions League Era. This will be history worth cherishing for Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Alex Ferguson, and of course, the whole United team and the fans.

We all know the results of the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight by this time, that the Pacman demolished the Hitman in two rounds. It is not difficult to find video replays as it was a very brief fight. Yeah, easy two rounds for the pound-for-pound king against the 140-lb brawler from Manchester, England. Disappointing in a sense that many thought they were not getting their money’s worth.
“What a waste of money!”. Those thousands of Britons who flocked to MGM must have said that when they saw their local hero lying unconscious on the canvass. I bet they probably lost more in the casinos than what their tickets’ worth.
