2009 French Open Men’s Finals Results Predictions

There are only four men left standing as of this writing: Robin Soderling vs Fernando Gonzales, Roger Federer vs Juan Martin del Potro. Who would come out as the victor for the 2009 French Open Men’s Singles? Now that Rafael Nadal, the defending champion and four-time winner, was eliminated early by a surging Swede, can we say that this is now Roger Federer’s time to get hold of the elusive title that evaded him and Pete Sampras in the past?
Go, Roger!
I have to be straightforward in my 2009 French Open Men’s Finals Results predictions. The three-time French Open runner-up, current no.2, former world no.1, has all it takes to capture the title. He’d be up against del Potro in the semis but the no. 5 seed don’t have the special skills to beat the resurging Fed.
On the other side of the draw, Fernando Gonzales and Robin Soderling are both equally dangerous. Soderling may have all the heavy expectations this time after he beat Ferrer, Nadal and Davydenko. These are not puny opponents. There must be something in the Swede that will catapult him to the finals, unless his luck will run out against the Argentine.
Gonzales is expected to extinguish Soderling but against Federer, the man who beat him 12 times in 13 encounters, he has the least of chances.
We just hope that Roger will not let down his fans this time. I don’t like to see him cry after losing a game, like that very rare instance early this year at the Australian Open. Nadal is no more. There should be no stopping for the Fed now.
Actual Results:
Federer won 6-1, 7-6 and 6-4. It was a total domination against the guy who beat Nadal. We can all sleep now.

Saan ka pa? Wala na si Nadal – I’d go for Federer. Even if Nadal is still there, I’d still go for Roger noh. Ahahaha
buti na lang talaga wala na si nadal. he’s such a boring palyer for me; inaantok ako pag pinapnood ko siyang maglaro.unlike roger na every swing of the racket is an art form.
i’d root for any player opposite Nadal! hahaha.
@badong: Exactly! Every swing of the racket is an art form. Nadale mo. Nsa dulo na rin ng dila ko yan eh. Di ko lang maalaala.
Nadal is a baseline power hitter. What’s so lovely about brute force anyway. Well, Andre Agassi is power baseline player, too. But he more than makes up for it by his awesome repertoire of shots. And Andre is a master showman, clicks with the crown wherever he goes. Nadal to me is a little bland for my taste.
You’re right about Roger. He’s poetry in motion indeed.
federer won. what can i say?
jan, i’d like to imitate Roger’s swing. But it will not work in badminton. lol!
badong, Fed’s victory is just awesome!
