Cristiano Ronaldo will move to Real Madrid next season. Good news or bad news? It really depends on whose side you are in. Manchester United accepted a world-record £80 million bid offer from Real Madrid for the star player. This one exceeds the Kaka deal weeks ago. Though the transfer is not yet final, Real was already given the permission to talk to the Portugal winger. And with Ronaldo’s heart set to join the Galacticos, there is no one and nothing that can prevent this from happening.
What can you say of a team with 2 of the world’s best football players? Ronaldo is the 2008 FIFA world player of the year while Kaka is the 2007 awardee. Add those two to the already talent-laden team and you have to expect no less than the La Liga trophy and the Champion’s League.
The 24-year old Ronaldo was bought by Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 for a fee of £12milllion. The youngster played excellently well both for his club and his country. His price upped as he matured and this record-breaking deal is no surprise. Should Manchester United be happy with their profit? They now have problems on who will fill the gap and a three-peat at the Premier league is difficult.
And you have to give the credit to the Real Madrid President Florentino Perez for this deal. He wants stars in his club, the best that money can buy. Yeah, we all know that Zidane, Ronaldo (Brazil), Beckham and Figo played on this club at one time, a few years ago. On paper, they were the best team. They didn’t produce trophies expected of them, but they brought in lots of cash and fans to the club.
In other words, the acquisitions can be seen from a business point of view. With Ronaldo and Kaka in Real Madrid, it is still not a guarantee of trophies. More cash perhaps. Sponsors will flow in and you can count Paris Hilton too.
The good boy Kaka and bad boy Ronaldo, side by side to turn things around at Spain. Who would influence the other? Aha, I might become a Real convert soon because of them.
