Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal in Wimbledon 2009 Finals! That is my men’s tennis finals predictions. And it is also a match every tennis fan is waiting for – a repeat of the 2008 finals.

Last year, I held my breath many times in that crucial finals game. I watched it live on cable TV as the mighty Roger Federer finally succumbed to the young Spaniard’s pressure at the grass. I wanted to ask why, but I reminded myself that it was not my game, and Roger knows why he lost.

That final was not really a good sight to watch for a Fed fan like me – too many errors, so very unlikely of Roger. I would have crushed the racket if I were him. Or probably express rage in front of the camera for the costly errors at the net. But Roger is Roger, and he kept his cool. That 5-set game lasted 4 hours and 48 minutes and is the longest in Men’s finals in Wimbledon’s history.

And now it’s 2009 and Roger is fresh from his first French triumph. A wife, a baby, and a new record are certainly boosting Fed’s confidence. Wimbledon now and US Open again later this year.

And what about Rafa? The King of Clay has been dethroned and it surely is a blow to his confidence despite staying at no.1. I heard that he has some problems with his knees too. Andy Murray will once again block his way, but I am not sure if the Scot will be successful.

But, in a Federer vs Nadal final at grass, Roger will once again reign supreme. He isn’t a five-time winner for nothing.

UPDATE 6-20-09

Rafael Nadal withdraws from Wimbledon 2009. He was diagnosed with tendinitis in both quadriceps tendons as well as a small amount of fluid on the kneecaps.
