Manchester United vs Manchester City: Who rules in Manchester?

Manchester United vs Manchester City on September 20, 2009 at the Premier League. This will be the first time the two will clash this season. With a refurbished City and a depleted Red Devils, this game will be exciting for the fans. Watch Tevez as he plays against his former team. Of course, the whole of City will be out to prove their claim.

With the change of City ownership in 2008, they’ve become one of the richest clubs in the world. Yep, they were on Chelsea’s footsteps. But not quite. While Chelsea showed immediate success, it was rather slow for City. City placed tenth in the Premier League last season and they have not drawn big names in football except for Robinho. Teves and Adebayor aren’t exactly in my best football players’ list, but they are stars in their rights too.

On the other hand, Manchester United was last year’s winner with Ronaldo, Berbatov, Teves and Rooney. The club is one of the most successful in England and in Europe. Manchester has been already attached to the Red Devils. And the trophies won will speak for that.

However for this year, after 4 or 5 games, both United and City have 12 points each, and are 3 points away from league-leader Chelsea. City still has a game on hand and in undefeated in 4 games. ManU lost once to Burnley. The depleted side of the Red Devils is evident in its recent games. No more of Ronaldo and Teves.

And Manchester City is riding high with new and able recruits and free-flowing cash to hire the best football player available. Can they beat United now and claim Manchester as their ‘City’?

p.s. Don’t forget to watch Manchester United vs Manchester City live a few hours from now.
