The 2010 FIFA World Cup final draw results will be known today, December 4, 2009 in Cape Town South Africa. The 32 national teams that qualified must be anxiously waiting for the draw results by now. We, the fans will not be left behind as we can watch the final draw of the 2010 World Cup in our cable TVs and/or online thru Fifa.com and in ESPN’s Soccernet.com
The 4 Pots
The seeded teams are lumped in Pot 1. England is there alright. And Spain, too. It is to make sure that the top teams do not cross each other’s path in the early part of the tournament. It is a surprise that France, a past champion, is left out in the seedings. Along with another equally dangerous team Portugal, they are in Pot 4. The US is in Pot 2 along with the Asian qualifiers, but they are not really a danger to the top teams. The African teams are in Pot 3.
Group of Death
Top contenders and possible dark horses in a single group for the initial rounds – that is the group of death. If a seeded team faces any two of Ivory Cost, Uruguay, Portugal and France, that could be the group of death. In reality, each of the teams that qualify is capable of winning the Cup. But each team wants an easier path to the finals. So whoever falls into the group of death, may become exhausted as it climbs to the next round.
