Barcelona traveled to Milan on a bus. Blame that on the volcano that erupted in Iceland. Air travel was paralyzed, yet the games were not postponed. The visitors opened well. But despite drawing first blood on the 19th minute on a Pedro goal, Inter countered with three, frustrating the visitors. Sneijder, Maicon and Milito, all scored magnificent goals that sent the crowd roaring.

Lionel Messi, the best football (soccer) player in the world today, was nowhere near his lethal self. Was it because of the four other Argentines on the opponent’s side? We all know that Messi wasn’t really a big factor for his national team. And it’s somewhat a disappointing one. But for Barca, he is the wunderkind, the magical player who can rise on any occasion and save the squad.

The 3-1 results for Jose Mourinho’s Inter favored them when they travel to Camp Nou. Pep Guardiola’s side has to mount at least a 2-0 win, or they’re finished.

Second Leg Preview

Barcelona, being the defending champ of this tournament, is expected to overcome all opposition on their way to the finals at the Bernabeu. But facing Inter Milan at the semis, and with their equally dangerous Manager Jose Mourinho, football fans all over the world considered this encounter as ‘the Finals’ before the finals.

Barcelona had won 4 out of five in its last games in the La Liga. That includes a 2-0 stomping of Real Madrid. Before the Inter match, the Spanish Champ showed Arsenal who is boss at Camp Nou, demolished the English squad 4-1. Thanks to Messi for that! Arsene Wenger was awed himself.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, also won 4 out of 5 in its last games in the Serie A. Their last setback was a month ago against the second-running AS Roma. The Rome club could actually outpoint Milan for the trophy barring any slip up.

In the qualifying rounds of this year Champions League, the first encounter at Milan was tied at 0-all. That was a relief for Mourinho. Barcelona then blanked Inter 2-0 at Camp Nou on the second encounter.

But the semis is different. And the players could be pumped up or trampled for nervousness. The adrenalin is so high that things could turn around so quickly. Both Mourinho and Guardiola must be very busy on their drawing tables right now. The team than can execute correctly the coach’s strategy will win. Will Inter park the bus in front of the goal? Or are they going all out with their strikers in Milito and Eto’o? Of course, Barcelona can’t afford to sit back and relax. They can put five strikers if they want to get the goals they need to lead them through the next round.

Barcelona vs Inter Milan Results Prediction

Jose Mourinho isn’t exactly getting the respect he deserved in Italy. To top the domestic league is normal. To eliminate Barcelona, is extra-ordinary. But to win the Champions league will make him a legend.

Barcelona is very dangerous in its own soil. Messi can easily mess up any footballer’s dream if on the opposing team. A 2-0 victory may be easy if it’s not Inter. My results prediction; 2-1 for Barcelona. Inter goes to the finals for the first time since 1972.

Barcelona striker Pique scored a goal on the 84th minute against the 10-man Inter. But the strong defense of the Italian club repulsed any other attempt. The score in Camp Nou is 1-0 for Barca. But it wasn’t enough to overhaul the 3-1 deficit they suffered in Milan.
