Barcelona, the football team that lorded the Spanish La Liga for years, was left stunned by a newly promoted Hercules team, in an embarrassing 0-2 loss. Nelson Haedo Valdez, a forward from Paraguay, struck twice to give his Alicante-based team a famous win at the Nou Camp.

Barca did try to attack but left frustrated as their attempts were thwarted by the man at the Hercules goal. Messi, David Villa and Pedro, showed strings of brilliance but came up short. This is so unlikely for a team which is one of the most successful clubs in Europe these last few years.

Hercules beat Barcelona. Now that a lowly team showed they can slay a giant, what will the men in Madrid do? I know Mourinho was watching. He’s probably taking down notes too.
