Here we go again taking sides for the 4th Edition of the Pacquiao vs Marquez boxing fight. The fight will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada this December 8, 2012 (December 9 in the Philippines). Who do you think will prevail this time?
Pacquiao For the Knockout
Plenty of boxing avid fans were not convinced of Pacquiao’s victory in their 3rd encounter. Some even suggested that he should humbly acknowledge defeat, even if it was against the judges’ verdict. Others say that Pacquiao wasn’t as hungry as before. Some even blamed his new-found faith – which they say, diminishes his killer instinct.
Trainer Freddie Roach may have also felt annoyed that is why he said that Pacquiao should knock Marquez out to prove his detractors wrong. I know we put a lot of pressure on Manny that we expect him to batter his every foe and knock them out of the ring. We’ve seen him bloodied Dela Hoya, Cotto and even Margarito. Most of us believe in our hearts that he even won against Bradley. Certainly, I want Pacquiao to knock out Marquez in the first round.
Marquez for the Kill
Pacquiao is Marquez’ worst nightmare. He believed he won but the judges said otherwise. So he kept on saying that he was robbed thrice. He needs something of a redemption – to knockout Pacquiao and cement his place in boxing history.
We’ve already seen three fights. Was he close to knocking out Pacquiao? No! It was his resilience that saved him. His boxing style was more of a wait-and-see counterpunching. And if he ever did win, it would be as clouded as his robbery claim.
So Marquez should go for the kill or else lose again on the judges scoresheets. AS Larry Merchant puts it “But should Marquez want to change his fortunes and not feel like he will get robbed, I think he needs to be more explosive and take those risks.”
Pacquiao vs Marquez IV Results Prediction
Marquez should be thankful that Pacquaio gave him another chance. (Or is it Top Rank that gave both fighters the fight due to money considerations? Whatever!) But I do expect both fighters to give their all.
Manny will come with his barrage of punches. Marquez knew that these punches hurt. And if he stays with his counterpunching style, he wont be able to position himself for the kill. A volume puncher Manny is, and he is not easily tired.
If Marquez change his stance and be more aggressive, he might eat the big punches before his fists could get in. If lucky, he can knockout Pacquiao.
My prediction is a TKO victory for Manny Pacquiao. The Filipino boxing hero should already figure out Marquez and flatten him by the 6th round.
